Michael Polsky
Founder & CEO
With 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Michael Polsky is widely recognized as a pioneer and industry leader in the cogeneration and independent power industry of North America. He founded leading clean energy company Invenergy more than ten years ago. In 1991, Polsky founded SkyGen Energy — a developer, owner, and operator of natural gas-fueled generating plants — which was purchased by Calpine Corporation in 2001. Before forming SkyGen, Polsky co-founded and was President of Indeck Energy Services Inc. Polsky holds an MSME Degree from Kiev Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Chicago. In 2002, Polsky endowed a center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, which is named after him.

Jim Murphy
President & COO
Jim Murphy has more than 35 years of financial and management experience, primarily in the energy industry. During his career, he has managed the negotiation and execution of more than $30 billion in private equity and debt investments, power plant acquisitions and sales, and project debt and equity financing. He is responsible for Invenergy’s general management, as well as its corporate development, finance, legal and administrative functions. Murphy previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and currently participates on the Leadership Council of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). Prior to the formation of Invenergy, Murphy was Chief Financial Officer at SkyGen Energy LLC, was a Vice President with financial advisory and investment firm The Deerpath Group, Inc. and was a Manager with Arthur Andersen’s utility practice group. Murphy has a BS from the University of Illinois, magna cum laude, where he also earned a CPA certification.

Shashank Sane
SVP, Head of Invenergy Edge
Shashank Sane leads Invenergy’s Edge business, which helps facility and fleet owners identify opportunities to lower costs, increase sustainability and increase resiliency though on-site and market integrated resources, implementing turnkey solutions. Previously, Shashank led Invenergy’s Corporate Development team where he executed on value accretive M&A transactions and identified new business opportunities for Invenergy. Earlier in his time at the company, Shashank held various finance-oriented roles, successfully completing over $5bn in financings and divestitures. Prior to joining Invenergy, Shashank spent time advising energy companies at Oliver Wyman, after beginning his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers. He earned a BS in Finance and International Business from the New York University’s Stern School of Business, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Matt Nicholls
VP, Invenergy Edge
Matt Nicholls leads Invenergy Edge commercial operations including sales and business development. He joined Invenergy in July 2019 after more than eight years with GE in leadership roles where he co-founded GE Distributed Energy Solutions, a business delivering controls and engineering for behind the meter customers. He also held leadership roles in GE corporate strategy where he drove new energy growth initiatives, and business development in GE Global Research building public-private partnerships. Matt is a veteran of IBM where he developed large corporate alliances, developed business strategy for solar, and managed semiconductor engineering operations in state of the art fabs. Matt holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA from Marist College.

Gene Settoon
Director, Invenergy Edge
Gene Settoon is a Director of Invenergy Edge, focused on customer outreach and project origination. On the Invenergy Edge team he concentrates on helping commercial and municipal fleet owners solve challenges with fleet electrification and charging infrastructure solutions. He was previously on the Corporate Development Team at Invenergy where he developed strategy for entering new markets, such as Offshore Wind, and executed wind and solar project M&A transactions across the US. Gene has over nine years of experience working in the energy industry, and prior joining Invenergy he worked at an energy storage start-up, Ambri, McKinsey, and ExxonMobil. He has an MBA from Chicago Booth and a BS in engineering from MIT.
