With three separate energy technologies co-located at a single site, the Grand Ridge Energy Center in Illinois showcases Invenergy’s technical expertise and ability to execute. The site has won both Power Engineering and Renewable Energy World Magazine’s Project of the Year Award as well as Energy Storage North America’s (ESNA) Innovation Award. The renewable generation and battery storage at Grand Ridge serve unique and complementary roles, helping energy consumers meet sustainability goals and helping the grid operator maintain power quality and reliability. The project serves the PJM power market, which stretches from northeastern Illinois all the way to the Eastern seaboard. Combining a 210-megawatt wind farm, a 31.5-megawatt battery storage system and a 20-megawatt solar farm, all developed and operated by Invenergy, Grand Ridge offers a glimpse into the energy future.
